Material handling equipment in the workshop refers to such equipment, which is used for the manufacture, consumption, distribution, storage etc. of the product or goods. And about a quarter of all losses in workshops are due to accidents during manual handling of materials. Therefore, material handling equipment is used in the workshop to reduce these losses. The use of these tools saves time as well as losses.

(1.)crane

It is a machine for lifting heavy objects, it consists of one or more simple machines which provide mechanical advantage for lifting objects. Cranes are used in workshops to shift materials from one place to another. Both types of cranes are used in the workshop. It is of the following two types:-

1. electric powered
2. mechanically driven

(2.)conveyor

Conveyors are used in workshops when material has to be transferred between two specific points on a certain route. Different types of conveyors are marked by the type of product.

(3.)Fork Lift Truck

It is a powerful industrial truck that transports materials from one place to another by getting power from gas engine, petrol engine and battery engine.

(4.)Industrial Trucks

This equipment is used in the workshop to transport the product or material from one place to another. Industrial trucks provide greater flexibility than conveyors and cranes.

(5.)Wire-rope sling
