(c) Metals form ionic bonds with non-metals while non-metals form covalent bonds with non-metals.

(d) Metals react with water to form hydrogen gas, whereas non-metals do not react with water.

4-Describe the physical properties of metals.

The following are the physical properties of ans-metals:

1-Metals are shiny and can also be polished.

Metals are conductors of heat and electricity.

All metals except sodium and potassium have high melting and boiling points.

4-Metals produce sound when they strike a hard surface.

5-Metals are ductile. And they can be converted into wires by pulling them into long wires.

Why is copper used instead of steel to make hot water tank?

Answer:Iron reacts with steam whereas copper does not react with water at any temperature. When steel is used in a hot water tank, it will react with steam and over time the steel will corrode. But steam will not harm the copper. That’s why copper is used to make hot water tanks.

Answer:Sodium and zinc can displace hydrogen from dilute acids, whereas copper and gold cannot.
