What are the applications of solar energy?

Solar energy –

emanating from the sun energy It is the source of solar energy. The Sun emits about 63.11 mW of energy per square meter, which is equivalent to the Earth’s total primary energy requirement. The value of solar radiations on the surface of the earth does not remain the same because its distance varies with time.

applications of solar energy

due to which the same throughout the year radiations cannot be obtained. Solar energy is used for various purposes such as heating or cooling homes, heating water, drying the grains obtained from agricultural production. Apart from this, by making sea water vapor and getting salt. Running a pump to draw water from solar energy, generating electric power, cooking food by solar energy with the help of a solar cooker, etc.

Applications of solar energy-

  • Solar energy can be used to convert impure water into pure water. The device which is used for this is called Solar Bakyantra. With this device, pure potable water can be prepared in homes.
  • Solar wind heaters are used for many purposes such as drying grain, drying fruits and vegetables, drying wood, drying chemical substances, keeping homes warm in winter, etc. To dry any material, the heat is first applied to the surface of that material. and the thermal energy is absorbed by that material, then the moisture present in it gradually starts converting into vapor. Evaporation from the surface reduces the amount of water on that surface than the amount inside it. In this way the water from inside the substance slowly comes to the surface and starts evaporating and after some time the whole substance dries up.
  • Food is cooked using solar energy with the help of solar cooker.
  • Buildings can be heated by solar energy.
  • Solar energy is used to generate electrical power.
  • Solar energy is used to vaporize sea water to obtain salt.
