What is grinding wheel? Structure of Grinding Wheel, Types of Grinding Wheels
this one abrasive tool Yes, it is made in the shape of a wheel. It is used to add shine to the job, Friends, welcome to my website, I have written in this post What is a grinding wheel?, and its structure It has been told about, if you want to get information, then read the post completely.
What is grinding wheel?
it’s kind of cutting tool It is made up of very small particles. It is used to bring shine to metal or job. These wheels are made in many shapes. These wheels are fitted on the grinding machine before being put into use.
Grinding wheel structure
Its structure is as follows-
1.abrasive
They are in the form of particles, these particles have cores. These edges are more sharp. Due to which the cutting process is done in abrasive metals. Their selection depends on the metal to be cut. These particles are of two types, which are as follows-

(i) Artificial Abrasives
These types of abrasives are made, they are pure, so they are used mostly. These are of the following types-
(a)artificial diamonds
Although diamonds are obtained from nature, but some diamonds are also made, which are called artificial diamonds. These diamonds are as hard as natural diamonds. The grinding wheel made from these artificial diamonds is also hard, grinding with this grinding wheel gives good results.
(b) aluminum oxide
This abrasive is more tough, hard and sharp-edged. It is available in many colors. White colored aluminum oxide is used to grind high speed steel. And brown colored aluminum oxide is used for grinding high speed steel, wrought iron, mild steel and carbon steel etc.

(c) silicon carbide
This abrasive is used to grind low strength metals and brittle metals.
It is also hard, its color is green, its hardness is slightly less than diamond. it abrasive electric resistance furnace is built in.
(ii)Natural Abrasives
These types of abrasives are found in nature, but contain impurities, so they are rarely used. Abrasives found in nature are as follows- Corundum, Sandstone, Emery, Quartz and Diamond etc.

2.grain
It shows the size of the abrasive particles. It is of two types, fine and coarse. Fine-grained grinding wheels cut the metal less, but these particles provide a better finish. And a grinding wheel made with coarse particles can cut the metal more, but these particles do not give a good finish.
A coarse-grained grinding wheel is used to grind soft metals, and a fine-grained grinding wheel is used to grind hard and brittle metals. Abrasive particles are classified on the basis of grain as follows:
- Very fine – 220-600 numbers
- Fine – 80-180 numbers
- Medium – 30-60 numbers
- Course – 10-24 Nos.
3. Bonds
It is an adhesive material, This substance works to bind the abrasive particles. The stronger this bond will be. The life of the grinding wheel will remain the same. These bonds are of the following types-
(i)Vitrified Bond
This bond is most commonly used. because this bond acid, water, oil etc. is not affected. to this bond ‘V’ is displayed from.

(ii) Shella Bond
To form this bond, the abrasive particles are first mixed with shellac and heated. After which a certain shape is given. Grinding with a grinding wheel made of this bond does not heat the metal or job, and at the same time gives a good finish. to this bond ‘E’ display from.
(iii)Rubber Bond
To form this bond, the abrasive particles are first heated together with rubber and sulfur. After which a certain shape is given. Grinding with a grinding wheel made of this bond gives a good finishing. to this bond ‘R’ display from.
(iv)Silicate Bonds
To form this bond, silicates are used to bind the abrasive particles. The grinding wheel made of this bond is used for sharpening cutting tools and grinding hard jobs. to this bond ‘S’ display from.

(v) Metal Bond
This bond is used for very hard metals like- carbide, tungsten etc. is used for grinding. And this bond is used to make grinding wheel of diamond powder.
(vi) resin bond
Synthetic resins are used to bind abrasive particles to form this bond. The grinding wheel made of this bond is rotated at high speed. to this bond ‘B’ display from.
(vii)Oxychloride bond
The grinding wheel made of this bond is used without any coolant. The grinding wheel of this bond is made by mixing magnesium chloride, oxide and abrasive particles.

4.Grade
The hardness or strength of the bond of the grinding wheel is called the grade of the grinding wheel. English letters to grade (AZ) is represented by. Letter ‘A’ denotes a less strong bond, and the letter ‘Z’ Indicates stronger bond. Its grades are divided as follows-
(i) soft AH grade
(ii) Medium IP Grade
(iii) Rigid QZ Grade
5.Structure
The density of abrasive particles in the grinding wheel is determined by the composition. because in the grinding wheel 10-30% part of the bond. If the grinding wheel has less baud, then the abrasive particles are farther away, which is called open structure it is said. Wheels of this structure are used for cutting and grinding ductile and soft metals.
When the baud in the grinding wheel is high, the abrasive particles are closer together, which is called dense structure it is said. Wheels of this structure are used for cutting and grinding brittle and hard metals.
The structure of the grinding wheel is represented by a number, this number 1 to 14 Happens till. to a dense structure from 1 to 7 and open structure 8 to 14 The number is displayed up to .
