What is Vice?

“The equipment used in the workshop for performing processes like filing, scraping, machining, etc. by holding the job firmly is called vice They say”.
It is a device that holds the job tightly in one position. It has hard jaws to keep the job tight. These jaws penetrate the surface of the job and fasten it, leaving marks on the job. And soft jaws are used to hold the finished goods. Soft jaws are made of aluminum sheet and are used over hard jaws only. Using a soft jaw does not leave marks on the surface of the job.

(3.)pipe vice

The ‘V’ groove has a fixed jaw at the base of this vice. And the movable jaw moves through the spindle in the vertical frame. And there is a 90° groove in both the jaws.

(4.)Lag Vice

This vice has a long leg, the upper end of which has a fixed jaw and the lower end rests on a wooden log going up to the ground. It is tightened on a strong and heavy table. A small leg is attached to its big leg by a joint, in the upper part of which there is a movable jaw.

This movable jaw moves back and forth with respect to the fixed jaw by a spindle. This spindle moves in a nut attached to the fixed jaw.

(6.)Pin Vice

To hold the job, it has drill chuck-like jaws at one end, which open and close when the handle is rotated as needed.

(7.)Tool Makers Vice

It is very small in size and made entirely of steel. Its jaws are plane, so that there are no marks on the surface of the job. And it is used by the tool maker to perform fine machine operations.

(8.)pneumatic vice

It is a special type of vice. It does not require a spindle. Its By Air pressure is used to hold the job. Valves are fitted to open and close its jaws.

(9.)Hydraulic Vice

This is the modern vice. Hydraulic pressure is used to open and close its jaws and this pressure is controlled by valves.
