This type of nutrition is found in all animals, fungi and some unicellular organisms. Organisms that feed in this way are called heterotrophs.

Required conditions for photosynthesis:

Some experiments have been done below to show the essentiality of these conditions or elements for photosynthesis. It is proved by these experiments that green leaves form starch as food and when starch is mixed with iodine solution, it turns blue-black in color.

3-An experiment showing the need for sunlight in photosynthesis

• Take a plant with green leaves and place it in a dark area so that the starch stored in the leaves is used by the plant and the leaves are completely devoid of starch or de-starch.

• Now the central part of a leaf should be covered with aluminum foil in such a way that some part of the leaf is covered and the rest part remains open to sunlight. The aluminum sheet should be tied so tightly that light cannot penetrate the covered part of the leaf.

• Now keep this plant in sunlight for three to four days.
